In the year 1977... “Do you, Kamiya Taichi take Takenouchi Sora to be your lawfully wedded wife?” “I do.” “Do you, Takenouchi Sora take Kamiya Taichi to be your lawfully wedded husband?” “I do.” “Then, with the power invested with me by the Church, I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.” A loud cheer rocked the wedding hall... 1980... “He’s perfect. What are we going to name him Sora?” Sora cradled the little baby in her arms. “I think I’ll call him....Ranma...” <><><> Digimon : The Next Generation a Ranma 1/2, Digimon : Digital Monsters crossover/fusion written by Shaun Garin <><><> Juuban, 1995 <><><> Chapter 1 : Urban Legend Ranma was faced with a desision. Attack, or no attack? His thumb snaked down towards the button and pressed it. On the screen, a brown and orange dinolike reptile reared back and spat a huge flaming ball of fire at the creature opposing him. An ugly creature that looked like a troll with a large spiked club took the blast and promptly fell over. “GREYMON WINS!” The announcer shouted. Ranma Tamiya grinned and offered his hand towards his opponent, a kid, about two years younger. “Nice match. I’ll fight ya next year during the tournament.” Genki grinned and offered his own hand. “I’ll beat ya fair and square in Monster Battle than Digital Wars. Congratuations Ranma.” Soon, Ranma and two other teammates, a duo of blonde girls, one with twinned ponytails and the other with long blonde hair with a ribbon in it were holding the plaques and championship trophies. A woman, dressed in a long presentors dress came up and offered Ranma a large championship trophy. “Congratuations Team Kamiya! You get the first chance at the new Digital Wars 200X series! A copy will be sent to your homes within a week! This is still in the testing stages so please, put in support!” The Announcer crowed. Ranma waved to the fans in the arena surrounding the huge monitors that made up the Digital Wars Screens. Far in the back, his parents watched. “Remind you of the good old days, doesn’t it?” Sora Kamiya. “Hard to believe that our adventures have been immoblized in urban legend. After all the destruction of Odiba, they still pass it off as freak coincidence.” Tai smiled a bit. “We never told him that WE’RE the legendary Digidestined. I think it’s about time he earns his birthright.” In his hands, Tai revealed his Digivice, Tag and Crest. “He deserves it.” <><><> “Congratulations Ranma! It’s a great honor to become the Digital Wars Champion. How do you feel?” The anchorwoman stuck a microphone into his face. “Um... well...I guess I’m good.” The anchor woman fired off a few more questions before a familiar figure pressed his way into the crowd. Ranma looked up and shouted. “DAD!” Nearly twenty plus years had passed since Tai had journeyed into the Digital World and saved it and Earth with the help of his wife and friends. A tall man, well muscled while wearing thin glasses, a white shirt with a black tie, pants and his hair tied back in a ponytail, great shocks shooting up from his head, Tai had aged well. Sora, who currently pushed into the crowd, had grown and filled out in ways that Tai found attractive. Resembling an anime charecter, her hair had grown past her neck and down to the middle of her back. Wearing a sweater and slacks, she still kept her Tag and Crest of Love hanging around her neck. “Ranma-chan!” Ranma pushed his way through the crowd of reporters and joined his mom and dad. “Hey! We ready to go now?” “Yes son, lets go.” <><><> “Ranma, sit down here for a minute.” Taking a seat, his little sister Ranko sat beside him. A year younger, she was at her gymnastics practice when he was at the tournament. “What’s up dad? Mom?” Sora folded her hands before her and said, “We’re happy how you two have grown up. And now...” “...and now, it’s time for you to learn of your parents history. Ranma... do you know what this is?” Removing a box from under the table, he placed it in the middle, and opened it. Within the box lay two metal objects and two Tags and Crests. Ranko peered at it. “Hey, isn’t that the Digidevice from that game Oniichan is always playing?” Ranma looked at it and said, “Yeah. Dad, what’s this all about?” “Ranma, the Digiworld is REAL. Here’s pictures. Your uncle Joe took them a long time ago.” Sora removed a nondescript album from the table’s hidden panels and dusted it off. Then, she opened it. Ranma looked in and gasped. “That’s a Koromon!” Sure enough, a picture of a much younger Tai, dressed in a blue and yellow shirt, goggles on his head with shorts and sneakers held Koromon under his arm. To his side, his uncle Yamoto held a Tsunomon. Ranko stared as her mother turned the page. More pictures followed, Greymon, Lillymon, Mimi, Joe, Takeru, Koushiro...Digimon in real life tones. “These...these aren’t altered, are they?” Ranma asked his parents. “No. We ARE the legendary Digidestined. As with your Uncles Yamoto, Joe, Takeru, Koushiro and your Aunts Mimi and Hikari.”
