Enjoy Shaun Garin 14/2/99 A Simple Wish Version 3.1.2 Second Upgrade, Final Copy by Shaun Garin Chapter 11 : Final Genesis Evangelion Bloody hell! Where did this one come from? Okay, I admit that this Angel is pretty cool looking but did it have to take on the form of the final boss on Final Fantasy VII? Sepheroth Bizzaro was bad but Sepheroth himself? NASTY! I grit me teeth and yelled “Neo Bahamut!” Under Sepheroth’s feet, the ground was carved off into a chunk of floating earth and rose up into the air. Bahamut sat there, waiting for him. He pulled in power and melted the ground under Sepheroth’s feet. Sepheroth was caught in the blast. Asuka stood up, her chest heaving under her specialized armored plug suit. I tried not to stare when she said, “Didja get him?” I peered into the sunlight. “I got him, but he’s still alive. Damn AT Field.” Just then, in the communicators in our ears, Ritsuko said, sounding annoyed. I looked up and my face displayed a sheepish look. Tokyo Tower’s observation deck was totally slagged from being caught in the blast. “Gomen Ritsuko. Didn’t control the blast as I thought I did.” Then, I couldn’t help to add, “But hey, the Dirty Pair slagged it the first time around, didn’t they?” A heaved sigh came over the link. Before she cut transmission, I could hear her swear and say, *** “Well, one thing is certain, he’s playing with us,” Makoto said, leaning back in her chair. At the others questioning looks, she said, “he has the power to wipe us out. If it wasn’t for the weird woman who gave us the new handheld weapons, we’d be toast.” Asuka narrowed her eyes and thought deeply. The woman’s features were blurred, and distorted when she appeared suddenly in the command area. She pulled several weapons with some gemstones inside them from out of the voluminous cloak she wore around her body. The voice was strikingly familiar somehow. Shaun wisely stayed quiet. When Skuld had warned him that the last Angel was not coming in a replacement pilot form, he had been on alert in every chance he got. He then grilled the truth out of Kami- sama after it. He admitted that he sent the Angels and it wasn’t Ra. Though he sent them through Ra, he never knew they were THAT bad. It was supposed to be a small joke in the beginning. Shaun snorted silently. Some joke, Kami-sama, he said on the phone. Do you realize how much damage the Angels have done? Kami-sama had apologized profusely, saying that they were supposed to be only jokes. To liven up his work a bit. He had said that they were made and designed by Ra but he never knew Ra was THAT bad. According to him, Ra was his best friend when he was chosen to replace the last Kami- sama. He wisely didn’t push the “Last Kami-sama” thing, and just berated the supreme deity for a while. Shaun sipped his Brisk and said, “Well, this Angel is really powerful, has some nasty summon spells, a lot like I can do on a limited bases, and he doesn’t feel much damage when we hit him once. Perhaps what we need is a Mimic Materia.” “A what?” Shinji asked. “A Mimic Materia can make people cast the last summon spell over and over again with a W-Summon Materia.” Makoto looked peeved then. “But there hasn’t been any Materia on this planet save for the ones in our arsenal.” “I’ve been meaning to ask you two about something,” Ritsuko interjected. “You two are certainly strange.” Shaun tried to look innocent. “Like what?” Ritsuko glared ice at him, “don’t even try and get out of this one Fourth Child, Mr. I-resurrected-Rei tries to get away from a simple investigation.” Makoto drew a breath and said, “Shaun is just a special person,” she said, drawing an alarmed look from the one in question. “He has a history and frankly I don’t want you to look it up. But in any case, he’s been through a lot and he deserves his privacy. As for the Sailor Senshi, they probably were responding to a supposed threat.” Ritsuko had a look of suspicion but then it faded. “All right, I’ll ask when he wants to. Now, this Angel...” “Sepheroth,” Shaun corrected. “His name is Sepheroth.” “Sepheroth, sorry,” Ritsuko continued, “Sepheroth has a transfinite power level it seems. Only the weapons that you five have can damage him it seems. Guns that are bigger than the size of bazooka cannons are only affected against him with those stones in them. Same as Asuka’s gloves, Rei’s staff, Shaun’s, and I use the word loosely, SWORD, and Makoto’s Conformer can fight this one. And he seems to be stable, mentally.” “As mentally stable as an world destroying Angel can be,” Asuka said with a snort. “Isn’t he supposed to be a total psychopath from what Shaun said?” Every head turned to the Fourth Child who held his hands up in a warding position. “Hey, I only played the game, I never finished it. But to answer her question, YES, he’s supposed to be a psychopath. Since there’s no Black Materia on this world, then he hasn’t summoned Meteor is a load of our minds.” “...well then THAT’S a relief,” Misato said, pounding back a can of beer which she snuck into the meeting. “But anyways, get some sleep cause he just gave a transmission. He wants to face all five of you tomorrow. I think he want’s to finish it. At 12 noon.” Rei arched an eyebrow and spoke softly, “We should prepare for tomorrow then.” Then silently she stood up and walked out, a haunted look on her face. Shaun stood up and chased after her, only to be stopped momentarily by Asuka. “Where are you going Magic Man?” she asked. “Magic Man, eh? That’s a new one from Fourth Child. But I’m following Rei. I need to speak with her.” Asuka took on a hurt expression momentarily but it changed to anger. “Oh so you want to add her to your list of girlfriends, huh?” she accused, her voice rising in pitch. “NO! I mean, she was reborn only a month ago and I can feel her pain. It’s hard being psychically linked with a young girl like her,” he looked at Rei’s retreating form, a worried look on his face. “I don’t really know.” Asuka snarled and stomped off, only pausing to say, “Go ahead. See if I care.” Shaun sighed and hung his head in his hand and slumped against the wall of the briefing room. Shinji came out. “Trouble is the man who have many loves,” he said quietly. “Shinji, since when did YOU get philosophical?” he asked without looking up. Shinji reddened in embarrassment for a second before recomposing himself. “Just today,” he said. “Good. I’m going to Nerima. I need to speak with someone.” With that, he raced off, throwing a jacket over his plug suit. Shinji started after him but Makoto gave him a warning look. Shinji backed off. *** “The Fourth Child hasn’t called lately and its nearly midnight. I’m starting to worry.” Asuka snorted and crossed her arms, a deep frown over her face. “I don’t really care about the stupid Fourth Child, Misato. He’ll come back sooner or later. Doesn’t he always survive somehow?” “That’s very comforting Asuka,” Misato said sarcastically while heading out to the balcony.” Suddenly, from across the horizon of Tokyo, a huge pillar of power erupted from the vicinity of the beach area near Nerima district. Misato gaped at the huge pillar of power blazing like a sun in the sky. After a second, it died down. Not two minutes later, another blaze came from the beach and died down with a roar that they knew all too well. It was Bahamut. Shaun was practicing his summon spells to the excess. And pretty much at excess since the power was erupting like Mount Fuji in a festival. After a half hour of this light show, which, by the way, gathered quite a large crowd of spectators, died down for the last time. Asuka stood there, slackjawed at the power displayed. “You think he’s mad?” she asked. “Hell yes. Either that or he’s just practicing his overkill attacks.” Asuka shuddered, “I don’t really hope its the first one,” she said before heading inside. *** “Thanks for talking Ranma,” I said, wiping my head with a towel. Ranma stood there, breathing slightly heavy. “Not bad, for a beginner. You never had much experience in weapon fighting, right?” he probed. I nodded. “Yeah, never had much use for it though so I let it slide. My “style” is Slash At Anything That Looks Deadly. With my Falcon Blade, it wasn’t that hard.” Ranma sighed. “Crude, but effective. Hey, what do the latest tests show about our ages? Will we start aging again sooner or later? Akane is driving me nuts with her reverted personality.” “Washu and Skuld said that the Quantum Surge’s effects will wear off after the Angels are totally destroyed. But they could be wrong. Anyways, we’re fighting Sepheroth tomorrow at noon. Wish us luck.” “Good luck, you’ll need it.” Ranma said with a snort. “You should get some rest. Your magic energies need recharging with some good food and sleep.” “I guess. Change, and I’ll fly us home. You’re way too heavy as a guy for me to fly us back before sunrise hits.” Ranma grumbled but he splashed himself with the sea water and climbed on my back. I lifted off and flew straight for Nerima. But not before commenting, “Geez Ranma, you’re really heavy for a girl.” WHAP *** Came Misato’s voice. Asuka snorted, the sound filtering into her communicator. “Don’t get too confident Asuka,> Shaun said over the link. Makoto nodded and thrust out her hands in a wide sweep. “COMET 2!” The hail of rocks blazed down atop Sepheroth, crushing him under the rocky hail. Sepheroth blasted out of the rubble and chanted, “Pale Horse.” Makoto paled and dodged away from the summon spell which incinerated the top half of Tokyo Tower. Again. From the bottom of the building, Shinji dodged out and started unloading rounds of ammo from his Missing Score on his arm. Sepheroth snickered and chanted, “Fire3.” The pillar of flame blasted Shinji into the nearby cafe which collapsed on him. Asuka screamed in a rage and dashed towards him, executing a powerful Limit Break on his body, staggering Sepheroth. She was pleased to note that the AT Field didn’t come back up after the devastating combo she landed on him. Sepheroth then decided in his insane little brain that he should go weapon. Lancing out with Masamune, he cleaved the spikes from the top of Asuka’s gloves, to her shock. With another slash, he cleaved the armor plating from her torso, leaving her plug suit under it exposed. Asuka turned tail and ran from the battle field. It was Rei’s turn to attack. She clasped her hands in a praying motion and chanted, “Leviathan.” The huge water snake burst from a globe of liquid H2O and sprayed a torrent of water with the force to crush a Evangelion from 100 meters. Sepheroth was shot into the building and lay there, stunned. “Bahamut ZERO!” “Phoenix!” “Alexander!” “Hades!” “Knights of the ROUND!!!” The collision of powers lanced out as Sepheroth was mauled, beaten, scorched, fried, and definitely dead. D-E-A-D, DEAD. The Evangelion pilots celebrated the defeat of the 17th Angel in wild abandon as the body of Sepheroth melted away and blew up, the shining red core floating upwards and finally shattering with a burst of green spiritual energies from Shaun’s hand. *** “So whadda think THAT was Toji?” Kenusuke asked curiously from their perch atop a building. “Whatever it was, it kicked butt!” Toji exclaimed enthusiastically. *** “So, Shinji, you all defeated the Last Angel WITHOUT the Evas?” Kenusuke was shocked. Never in his military oriented mind did he ever think that an Angel could be defeated by hand weapons. Shinji nodded and laid back in a content pose. “The Angel is dead.” he lifted his right arm where he wore the huge Missing score on it, the weapon weighing as if it were nothing. “This puppy was easy to use.” Asuka snorted from behind Shinji. “Yeah right. I fought the Angel hand to hand with my Gloves.” “AFTER, he slashed the blades off it, you were helpless,” Shinji pointed out with a snicker. Asuka started a verbal war between her and Shinji when Rei, Shaun and Makoto came into the room, smiles perched on their faces. “Hey, guess what?” Makoto said, grinning like a madman, “All Eva pilots get a vacation. We get to go to any place we want for a couple of days.” Shinji leapt up, ignoring the latest round of verbal abuse. “Well, lets go then! I want to go the mountains.” “I know a place there where we can stay at. I’m sure Tenchi won’t toss us out anytime soon. Come on, I can get us there. I can drive.” “As long as you don’t drive like Misato, I’ll let you drive Fourth Child,” Asuka grumbled. She had lost the argument with Shinji. That was a first. “I don’t drive like that,” Shaun said seriously. His smile turned devilish. “Except when someone wants me too...” he let that comment finish itself as Asuka turned white as a sheet. *** “’Jichan! We’re here!” Yoshu looked up, a smile on his face. In came five Evangelion Pilots dressed casually. “Why Shaun, Makoto, how good of you to come. Tenchi is in the fields with Ryoko and Ayeka. Careful, they’ve been arguing.” Makoto laughed. “Ryoko and Ayeka arguing? More like royal rumble is more like it. Thanks ‘Jichan.” Yoshu waved as they headed towards the fields. Asuka then asked, “What’s this Tenchi like?” Makoto answered. “Tenchi is...very energetic. He’s caught between many girls loving him and can’t decide. A lot like cousin Ranma to be precise. He takes it in stride, notwithstanding the massive damage they inflict on the premises of the area of their arguments. Tenchi is a great guy...” Makoto lapsed into a full blush as she remembered the “incident” with Aphrodite’s Dust. Tenchi looked up from his plow in the Carrot patch and waved. “Hey! Over here!” Ryoko looked up from her floating position and her face lit up. “Shaun! Over here!” Shaun laughed and leapt into the air, shouting, “Raywing!” He blazed towards Ryoko who tackled him. He recovered and they started an flying game of tag. Shinji, Asuka and Rei bigsweated. “Ano...does he do this every time he comes here?” Asuka asked nervously at the speeds they were traveling. Tenchi waved it off. “Ryoko and Shaun are really good friends. They love playing in midair. So, who’s your friends cuz?” “This is Shnji, Asuka and Rei,” she said, introducing each one with a sweep of her hand. “We’re granted a few days rest from the last Angel and we came up here to the mountains.” “Are you sure it’s all right with the...you know what...under the valley?” Tenchi asked in a low voice. Makoto nodded, so subtly so that even Rei didn’t notice it. And boy, that’s subtle. *** Laying on the roof, Ryoko floated up over my face, a wide smile on her face. “Hey there, mind if I sit here?” I smirked. “As long as you don’t sit on my face, I’ll be fine.” Ryoko grinned devilishly and sat...there. Whoa. “Um, Ryoko? Can ya get off? I’m...sorta....you know.” Ryoko pouted and floated off and stretched out in midair, joining me in my prone position. “A penny for your thoughts, young Knight.” she said in a very OLD accent. “Funny Ryoko. Reaaalllllly funny.” I heaved a sigh. “Well, not really. I’m worried.” “About what?” she asked, pulling a bottle of Sake from god knows were in her shirt and took a long chug from it. When she finished, I noted that a puff of smoke came from her mouth when she exhaled. “Well, I have a nagging feeling I missed something important in Neon Genesis Evangelion. Something really nasty.” I scratched the back of my head and grunted slightly. “Something’s not right.” Ryoko nodded and said, “I’m turning in. Night.” I stared into the night sky for more than three hours before returning to my futon in the guest room. *** The next day... Ryoko and I laughed as we sat on the tree tops, watching the sun go down. It was a beautiful October day, and the weather was surprisingly warm for the dimming sunlight. She leaned on her back and said, “Hey, there’s the Megaship,” pointing to the moving point in the sky. I looked up and said, “Hey, you’re right. Wonder what they’ve been doing lately? I’ve been in Tokyo for so long that I haven’t checked in with AG Command under our feet.” Ryoko snorted. “Hikaru is holding out. I actually think she likes being the one in control in Japan Command.” A pause. “So, Shaun, do you like Hikaru?” “Huh? Yeah, I like her. She’s sweet, and kind and a great person to be around. Why?” Ryoko’s face twisted into a exasperated look. “What I really mean is, ‘Do you love her?’” I nearly fell out of the tree in shock as I blurted out, “WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THAT I LOVE HER?!” Ryoko’s face twisted again, this time into a coy grin. “Well, it’s the way you look at her. You did say that Skuld is more like a friend now than before. You two never got too close after the Second Impact. That’s when you and Hikaru started to get close. I can tell, after all, I’m over 5000 years old.” I chuckled ruefully. “Well I guess when you put it that way, I must be in love with her.” “So...” Ryoko prompted, “call her on the link and tell her. Or take Washu’s lift down to the base. She’s probably feeling the same way.” An embarrassed blush ran up my face as I said, “well...maybe later.” Ryoko snorted. “Chicken,” she said before rising up into the air. I followed suit with a whispered, “Raywing.” One of these days, I’ll master the flight spell without having to say the word. I floated across the night sky and watched a streak of light emit from the Megaship, probably a lazer blast, and incinerate a asteroid, or some unlucky Space Pirate. The guys in AG-1 were quite trigger happy and I really didn’t encourage it. Most of the time. *** Returning to Tokyo was quite a shock. Around the city stood nearly seven or eight Evangelion units, all gleaming white with wings, and obviously the S2 Engine was inside it, lacking the Power Cord. I started to swear loud and forcefully. “Oh shit!! End of Evangelion, the Movie!!!” When the eva pilots looked at me, I said, “Forget that, lets get down to the Eva bays!” *** “Are you ready?” Ristuko asked, suiting up Rei, Asuka and Makoto. “Where’s Shinji and Shaun?” “They jumped ship for some reason,” Asuka said through growls of frustration. “Lets kick some butt!” *** Three Eva units rose up from the ground and immediately engaged in combat. A white Eva came up and lashed out with a sword, sheering off Asuka’s right a rm. She grit her teeth and lashed out with her good arm with a gun taken from the weapon bays, spraying bullets into the chest of the Evangelion. The AT Field, to her dismay, erected and it jumped atop Asuka’s Eva and started to pound on its head. Makoto reared the Evangelion in a kick and slammed the foot into the white Eva, sending it into the mountain side. It got up and lashed out with a hidden sword. Makoto swore and countered it with a parry of kicks and punches. She was grateful for the 115% synch ratio since she had the greatest reaction time in the Eva, extending the attacks like her own body. Suddenly, Rei’s Eva went down and a White Evangelion ripped her plug out of the spine. Asuka’s red Eva collapsed then since the power cord was severed with a sword swipe. Makoto found her power cord being severed as well. She could only think of one thing to do. “Makoto to EMTControl, three to beam out of the plugs! Energize!” With a sparkle of light, the three Eva pilots were tossed out of the Plugs and landed in the cliff overlooking Tokyo. Rei stood up, her legs wobbly. Suddenly, a group of black clothed men ran up and grabbed Rei. She shouted for them, but a thump on the back of her head knocked her out before she could alert the other still unconscious pilots. *** “Shinji, you must stop your father. He’s insane and wants to start Third Impact.” Shinji looked pale in the dim light. “What? But why? Why would he destroy the world?” “To be reunited with your mother,” I said matter of factly. At Shinji’s blank look I elaborated. “She was absorbed into the LCL of Unit-01. She is inside the Evangelion. Remember when your synch ratio reached 400%? Well you should have encountered your mother in a virtual dream.” “That’s correct,” Gendo said from the shadows. He leveled a gun at us and pulled the trigger. Shinji’s shout of anger was the last thing I remembered as the blackness engulfed my vision. *** Gendo turned to his son, a dark look on his face. “Now Shinji, you have a choice. Join me in my quest to return to bliss with your mother, or die for your friends.” Shinji growled and lashed out with his foot in a vicious snap kick, which knocked the gun from his father’s hands. Scooping it up, he said darkly, “You’re insane.” “I might be, but will you take the chance? Will you shoot your father?” Gendo stared holes into Shinji’s defense. Shinji could feel his will weakening for a brief second before leveling the gun at Gendo’s chest. “My father is dead.” he snapped. Gendo suddenly blurred and Shinji found himself staring into Gendo’s pistol front. “I’m sorry then.” He pulled the trigger...aimed at his side. Shinji collapsed to the ground, blood spilling from his wound. Gendo frowned for a second. What was that blue shield that protected him from the bullet? No matter, he can wait. Gendo turned and headed towards the door. *** “What are you DOING GENDO?!” Ritsuko was aghast as Rei Ayanami was dragged into the room, totally naked and seemingly injured, Gendo following behind her. Gendo didn’t reply and pulled up his hand, carrying a pistol. He shot Ritsuko who had only a second to scream. The bullet tore through her body, entering and exiting without hitting anything or tearing the vital organs. Rei looked up at her creator, a shocked look on her face. “Why?” she asked quietly. “It does not matter,” Gendo said emotionlessly. “Soon, I will be with my wife, Yui.” Rei understood. “Then...the man she loves is dead.” “That’s right...” Shinji said from behind Gendo, about a 100 yards from him, his eyes and hands glowing with silver light. His body trembled with rage as he shot forward his hands, screaming, “Obliteration Destruct!!!” Gendo didn’t have time to scream as he was totally vaporized in the blast of silver light. Rei stared in shock, her face showing total shock. Just then, a man with weird glasses came out, smiled an evil grin... Shinji’s world was vaped in a wash of green light as a bolt stabbed through his vision. The last thing he saw, was falling in the growing pool of blood from his side. Lorenz grinned. “Now...time for assention.” *** “Finally, some action. All AG teams prepare for Zord combat. This is a Alert level 5 condition. Washu, contact AG-1, tell them to launch the Megaship, the Delta Megazord, the Astro Megawinger and a backup squadron of X-Wings.” Hikaru ordered. She silently wished that the Commander was here giving the orders. “Yes ma’am.” Nuku Nuku turned around, and spoke into the microphone. “All teams prepare for zord battle. Scramble X-Wings.” “All teams report battle ready. Ready for launch.” Skuld reported after a few minutes. Hikaru took a deep breath and said, “Launch Megazords.” To be continued.... End Chapter 11 What was that thingy Shinji did? Well, its one of my own magical creations. Obliteration Destruct - a blast sent from the hands. It channels the negative and anger through your hands, mingling with the innate magical power in the human body. Only can be performed by someone who has absolutely NO magical training. It usually can be used once in a lifetime. Quite similar to the ShiShi Hokodan, though insanely more powerful and contained than the Complete, or Perfect ShiShi Hokodan. Vaps anything in its path. That said, Gendo is toast and Rei is fine. For now. Gyahahahahahahaha!
