A Simple Wish Version 3.1.1 Final Copy by Shaun Garin Chapter 9 : The Children’s Will Bored, bored, bored, bored, bored, bored, bored, bored, boy am I bored. Did I mention I was bored? I never asked for this. Really. Okay, it starts out in fall, or was it winter, or 1998 when a incredibly cute and likable goddess comes to pay me a visit and grant a wish. Simple enough, right? Then, all the world turns to a big Anime. Soon, I get caught between three girls, I hate Ranma and Tenchi complexes, composed of a Magic Knight, a Goddess, and a Android Cat-Girl. Then, I find myself granted some kickass magic powers and a practically never aging body. Immortal as it were. Simple enough? Nope. Ohhhhhh no. Soon, it was mid 2000 AD and I’m just putting on the finishing preps on a specialized group of bases when all of a sudden, Ra, you know, the alien from Stargate? He has a backup revenge plan if he gets killed right? So, I had to have five bases built around the globe at key points. Now, I’m the Supreme Commander of Alliance Guild Command, and I was extremely bored. Sure I used to pilot the Zords but that was a past memory. Key word, USED to. Now the girls won’t let me out of their sight without one of the senshi to make sure I don’t kill myself again. Don’t even try to make me explain how THAT happened. But in all reality, I’m glad we were able to prevent Second Impact. This means the timeline should go normally. Well as normal as a altered one could. So here I am, leaning back, listening to my Savage Garden CD for the umpteenth time when the Senshi of Lightning waltzed into the room and plopped down. In simple terms, Sailor Jupiter. In even more simpler terms, Kino Makoto. To break it down even more : A Very Bored Kino Makoto. She slipped in beside me on the lounge couch, her head thrown back in a bored pose. Over the years, she hadn’t changed from the 14 year old I first found her as. Of course, it wasn’t unexpected but still, sheeeeeesh. “Bored?” I asked, fully knowing the answer. Mako only nodded as she downed a Mountain Dew. Man how I love that stuff. “There’s no excitement anymore,” she complained. “back when I first became Sailor Jupiter, we did it with a personal touch. Now we just blow things up systematically when NERV needs our help.” I nodded sagely. “I guess. Hell, being the Commander of AGC isn’t as fun ask it used to be. I’m so bored, I could go back to school.” Mako snickered. “Hey I’ll betcha that if we have Urd make us both 14 years old again, you wouldn’t last a day.” I eyed her. “You mean it?” She nodded. I grinned ferally. “You’re on.” She gulped. *** Ritsuko plopped down two files on Misato’s desk. The dyed ebony haired and purple haired woman looked up. “What’s this?” she asked, taking a gulp of her spiked coffee. “The Marduk Institute files. We got lucky and found two Children. They just moved here into Tokyo-3.” she replied. “One is a Philipino boy and the other is a Tokyo resident. They’ve been living together for a long time.” Misato flipped open the files to find pictures of a boy and girl. Both were fairly attractive. “Hmm, Shaun Garin and Makoto Kino. Are they here in the city?” “They transferred into Shinji, Asuka and Rei’s school today,” the blonde answered. “Okay. I’ll see them at lunch.” *** “Damn plug suits,” Asuka growled. “This one is always too small.” Shinji wisely said nothing as they suited up for a Synch test. Rei was already out there, waiting for them. Soon, he exited the room and waited alongside the other two pilots. Misato came out, a wide grin on her face. “Hey everyone, we got a surprise for you both. Meet the fourth and fifth Children.” Asuka’s jaw dropped as she took in the sight of a well built black haired boy in a plug suit, and carrying a carved stick in his hands. The other was a girl with long chestnut hair and a warm smile on her face, laced with anticipation. “Hi,” the boy greeted. “I’m Shaun.” Asuka grasped his hands confidently. “Soryu Asuka Langely. This is Rei ‘Wonder Girl’ Ayanami and Shinji Ikari.” “Makoto Kino,” the girl said to Shinji who wasn’t trying to stare. “Um...how’d you do?” he babbled. “So you two were found just this morning?” She nodded. “I didn’t think this would happen,” she said, glaring at the other boy who reddened in embarrassment. “But hey, its a chance to try out some skills.” Asuka hadn’t stopped staring. The boy waved his hand across her face. “Yoo hoo? Asuka? Hello?” Misato laughed and said, “Okay you two. Get ready for your Synch tests.” The other pilots went obediently. Along the way to the Units 03 and 04, Mako hissed, “You never told me this would happen.” “Like I had a idea? Toji’s supposed to be the fourth child, not me!” he hissed back. Just then, a look passed over his face. “Wait a second. I’m the Fourth Child, right?” “Yeah, what about it?” “I’m trying a Synch test for Unit-03, right?” “I think so,” Makoto got a sinking feeling. “Oh no, you know what’s going to happen, don’t you?” He nodded gravely. “Okay, here,” he pressed a delta comm badge into her hand. “This is the full story : When they start up Unit-03, a dormant Angel takes over. When Toji became the pilot, he had a arm and leg blown off or something like that. When it goes berserk, make sure I can get up to the surface. Give me five minutes to blast my way through the plug and out to the surface. I’ll try and fly down with a Raywing.” Makoto nodded. “Yes commander,” she said, snapping to her customary stiffness when on duty or someone was in danger. He flashed a weak grin. “Hey, the worst thing that could happen is I get a arm and leg blown off by the feedback.” *** Start up checks were good, and so was the synch test. Ritsuko checked the screens and suddenly, she facefaulted. Misato looked up. “What?” “Th-this is impossible!! The two new Children have synchs over 100%! Its like they were made for the Evas!” Gendo’s face appeared in a chat box. “Ritsuko, check their files for any evidence that they are not human.” he snapped. “I want any proof that these two Children are threats. If they are not threats, then leave them alone.” “Y-Yes sir,” she stammered out. Suddenly, the MAGI went off. “There’s a Pattern Blue in Unit-03!” Maya announced. “Its spreading! The Eva affected is heading towards the launch pads!” “Is it from the plug?” Misato asked, breathless with anxiety. Maya shook her head. “Its starting from the leg and moving upward. I think it wants to head up to the surface.” “Let it go,” Ritsuko commanded. The others looked at her like she just lost her mind. “The Angel won’t cause much damage up there than down here. Make sure it launches and then send Units 00, 01, 02 to 04 after it.” “Well that rules out that the Fourth Child is an Angel,” Misato said dryly. *** “Shinji, get your butt in gear!” Asuka growled through the chat box. “The Eva is getting away!” “But there’s a human in there!” he protested. “Don’t worry! We’ll get him back!” ‘We’d better get him back,’ Asuka thought darkly. The huge golden bulk of Unit-04 came into view. “Guys? Give him a moment,” Mako said, “I think he can get out somehow.” Asuka snorted. “The Fourth Child busting out of a infected Eva? I’d like the see that.” A sound, not unlike a snicker came over the commlink from Unit-04. Suddenly, the plug input junction exploded with a huge force as the Fourth Child crawled out of the opening. The sound of a jaw hitting the bottom of the plug was heard from Unit 02. Shinji opened a channel. “The pilot is out Ritsuko. I don’t know how though.” Ritsuko’s face appeared. “The Eva must have rejected a human pilot when the Angel took over. Okay, Makoto? Go and fetch the Fourth Child.” “Hai,” The huge machine strafed the infected unit and snatched the boy off the shoulder. “Done,” she reported. “Okay, destroy the Angel.” A brief pause. “Oh, and by the way, try to save the Eva.” *** “It doesn’t look too bad,” I mused while looking over the nearly slagged Eva. “A few weeks of reconstructive work and it’ll be up and running.” “We could send it to the AG Lunar Base. But then Ritsuko’ll have to explain where it went.” Mako said with a snicker. I turned around and then turned right back for modesty sake. “Why they designed those plug suits like that, I’ll never know,” I muttered, a deep blush came up my face. Mako looked amused. “This coming from a guy who can turn into a girl. Seriously, why don’t you use your cure?” “What can I say? It would be like separating a person I trust from my life.” I looked up at the slagged gray Eva. “No matter how much I hate changing every second while in Nerima, I enjoy it as much.” “Hey,” Asuka popped in beside us in her school uniform. “Why didn’t you two change out of the suits?” “Later,” I said. Asuka nodded. “Hey, one question, what exactly happened when that Angel took over Eva-03?” “Well, first, all comm channels were cut off. The LCL was changed and contaminated when it took over so the Eva sorta blasted a hole in its skin to let me out. I took it before you guys blew this thing to high water.” I shrugged. “It was pretty cool.” Asuka snorted. “Yeah if you LIKE having a Angel controlled Eva under your feet. Hey, why don’t you two come for dinner?” she asked, “I’ll take you guys to a place in Nerima that sells great Ramen.” Mako nodded, “Sure! What time?” “How about when you guys change out of those suits,” she asked. I could tell she was looking at a certain part of my anatomy. “I guess so. Okay, see you outside the Geo-Front.” *** “Welcome to Nekohanten, I take order, yes?” There are many words to describe Shampoo. Amazon, cute, bouncy, peppy, and as simple minded (as well as Rumiko Takahashi portrayed her) as any girl could be with a obsession for a martial artist who went back to live in the Dojo after the Saffron incident. I’ll miss Ranma, he was a great pilot and sparring partner. “Yeah, one beef Ramen please?” I asked. “Same here, double meat,” Asuka ordered. “Same as hers,” Shinji and Mako chorused. “No meat on mine,” Rei said quietly. Shampoo nodded and bounced into the kitchen. Soon, the food was served and we all dug in. After a few minutes of eating, Asuka asked, “Hey Shaun, do ya study martial arts?” I nodded. “This and that.” Mako grinned around a mouthful of noodles. “He’s one of the best where I’m from. Sure I can best him on a day of basic sparring but he’s really good.” “Indeed, his battle aura is great.” I knew that voice. Turning around, the aged matriarch of the Amazon Village pogoed up to me. “I see you have gained much power child,” she said not unkindly. “Tell me, what is a group of young children doing walking around this dangerous part of Tokyo?” Asuka nearly choked as she suppressed a laugh. “Dangerous?” she choked out, “we live in Middle Tokyo-3.” “Ah, you are near the sites of the Angel attacks, are you not?” Shinji nodded. “Yeah.” Cologne softened for a minute, “Well no matter. But tell me, where did you two get so much power?” she asked, poking Mako and I with her staff. “I started training when I was 12. I never really knew that I was powerful enough to have a master of Martial Arts sense me,” I said, raising an eyebrow at the surprised woman. “Well child you know your fighters well. And this girl seems skilled enough,” she said, looking at Mako with a critical eye. “You two must simply meet my moko dono. He is at the Tendo Dojo.” I thanked the woman for her offer and soon, we were headed towards the dojo. At the door, the place was scarred with signs of battle. Asuka eyed the dojo wall nervously as sounds of heavy battle echoed from behind the door. “You sure this is the right place?” “She said Tendo Dojo,” I answered pointedly. Pushing the door open, there was a scene of chaos behind it. To the right, Kuno and Ryoga fought, Ryoga actually letting the stupid kendoist fight for longer periods of time. Panda and Soun were cheating and playing shogi and drinking beer. To the right fought Kodachi, Ukyou, and Shampoo who mysteriously appeared within the battle. Oh well, Takahashi secret. Akane was chasing the pigtailed martial artist around with her mallet number 2. Kasumi was cleaning and Nabiki was nowhere in sight. I sighed in exasperation. “Great,” I muttered. “CAPTIAN! HALT!!” I roared. Ranma, who was passing by, screeched to a halt, and snapped off a salute. “Yes? Hey...Shaun? That you?” I grinned and shook his hand. “Been a while Captian,” I said, while pumping his hand enthusiastically. “So, what have you been doing lately?” A cry of “RANMA NO BAKA!” and a mallet imbedded itself in the wall resounded. Ranma winced. “You can see for yourself Commander.” Asuka narrowed her eyes. “Commander? Are you two military nuts?” I looked uncomfortable. “Just a nickname. It’s a long story.” Ranma eyed me. “Hey, why’re ya so young?” I tossed him a sideways glance that read, “don’t say anything that’ll reveal our real ages. It’s a long story.” *** “Your friends are a little weird Fourth Child,” Asuka commented as she relaxed with a beer in her hands. “At least you’re staying with us, right Third Child?” she nudged Shinji in his ribs. “Yeah, right.” Shinji took a sip of his coke and leaned back, slightly uncomfortable with the curvy form of Mako sitting beside him. Mako took a sip of her coke and said, “You know, perhaps this Eva thing isn’t that bad.” Asuka grinned but said nothing. *** “Mako?” “Yeah?” “Do ya think we should have reported in? I mean, the others won’t be very happy if they find the pair of us gone.” A short pause. “Naw. Hikaru can manage. Besides, at least the Supreme Commander is out of danger right now.” “Sometimes, I wish I wasn’t the Supreme Commander,” came the response. “If only I had a normal life I could have...” “Could have what?” came the sharp reply. “Without you, we couldn’t have prepared for Second Impact. Without you, we couldn’t have met. Without you, you couldn’t have survived and neither could have more than 2 billion people. Without you, your friends who don’t know anything about Anime wouldn’t have survived. You see what wouldn’t have happened without getting that wish.” Silence. “I suppose so. Its just that...if I had a chance to redo my life without any Anime changing the course of history, I would take it.” a short snicker punctuated the darkness. “Hell, I probably would have been writing this story in my old life. Night Mako-chan.” “Night Shaun-kun.” A silence. “When did you start calling me Shaun-KUN?” *** I didn’t ask for this. I really didn’t ask for this. But there’s nothing I can do about it now. *** I paced the room, dressed in my black plug suit as a second string. Out above in Tokyo-3, my friends were fighting for the safety of the planet while I wore a groove into the floor of the Control Center. Misato caught me on the arm and soothed, “don’t worry, they have everything under control. What could possibly...” I shot up a warding hand. “Don’t even say that phrase. The Fates have a habit of acting on that situation.” Too late. The alarm blared as the reports of Unit-02 went down. Then Unit-00. The color drained from Ritsuko’s face as she tried to take control of the situation. I ground my teeth. Nothing short of divine intervention’ll stop me this time. And I could tell that Kami-sama was idly twiddling with a lightning bolt. I stormed out, heading towards the elevator to the surface. Misato caught up to me, her chest heaving from running after me. “Shaun! What are you doing?” “I got something to do. Actually, I’m gonna go and help.” Misato looked at me and pressed a hand to my forehead. “Are you feeling all right? That’s an Angel out there. Earth to Fourth Child, hellooooooooo!” I shrugged off her hand. “I’m fine.” I sighed. “Misato, I need to help them no matter how I do it. You wouldn’t understand how I’m gonna do it so don’t follow me.” She watched me storm off as the announcement that Unit-01 was out of power. “Like hell I won’t,” she growled, following me at a distance. *** “Garin to Kino. Come in.” The static only came through his communicator badge. He cursed rapidly in English and Misato raised an eyebrow, while heaving a few breaths as she finally got up to the top of the building where he stood. He sat, dressed in his plug suit with a strange helmet under his arm. He was looking out over the city at the lone fighting Unit-04. He shook his head and said, “I’d better get into action.” “How?” He whirled around, a angry look on his face. “Hey! I thought I told you to stay underground!” “You don’t have a choice. I’m watching over you right now and I have a responsibility.” He tensed for a second but then relaxed visibly. “All right, but you can’t show or tell anyone about this.” He tapped a medallion on the front of his plug suit. “Computer, activate the Ninja Megazord, send one suit, color...” he turned to Misato. “What color?” “Purple,” she answered. ‘What’s going on?’ “Purple. Prep the zords for remote launch, access code, Alpha Omega Six Four Seven Zulu Comm.” Soon, the rumble of a congintant of zords came rushing down the city skyline, ready for battle. Misato gasped. “Y-You have control over those battle mechas?” He nodded. “Yeah. Choose your mecha is it were.” “O-Okay. Um, I’ll take the crane.” “I’ll be in the falcon. Okay, hold on.” He tapped his wrist and the crane veered course, slowing down to a stop in front of Misato on the edge of the roof. The falcon joined its companion and the young boy leapt up. “Get in.” He slipped on the helmet which sealed with a hiss around his neck. Misato gulped a lump in her throat and climbed atop the crane. A chair hissed out of the body and she sat down, giving a little shriek as it dropped into the cockpit. Misato came to amidst the remaining flurry of light, dressed in a sculpted suit of purple. On the chest she had three white diamonds and she sported a shiny helmet, a purple crane shaped on it. She reached up to pull it off but a voice came over her commlink. “In all honesty, nope.” he said with a laugh. Soon, Misato brought the crane zord in loops. Shaun grinned and raised a thumbs up. “Okay, lets go get that angel.” *** Makoto reared back as the arm of her angel was severed by the ribbonlike arms of this brownish angel. It didn’t seem to be reacting to anything she threw out. She seriously considered what would happen if she transformed and sent an electrical bolt through the Eva, into the Angel through the haze of the pain coursing through her arms. Suddenly, a flurry of long missiles impacted on the AT Field. Makoto breathed a sigh of relief. That at least got some of the heat off herself. The huge Angel fired a beam of energy from its eyes and impacted on the wing of the shining Falcon. It lurched as did Mako’s heart. Suddenly, it turned its attention to Mako. She gulped and tried to dodge the beam of energy. Too late. Damn 13th Angel. Or was this the 14th? I never could tell. Later on, Ritsuko assured me it was the 14th Angel. I had a feeling that I wouldn’t like the next one. *** Ritsuko pounded the computer terminal. “Damn! Eject all the plugs!” Maya nodded and inputted the commands. *** Shinji stumbled out of the Unit-01’s plug as a huge red gorilla rumbled atop his head. There stood four mechas, far beyond his imagination, shining in the light. Asuka, Rei and Mako jogged over to him. “What are those Third Child?!” Asuka demanded. “Do I look like I know?” he shot back. Mako looked worried. “If the situation was this grave, he wouldn’t have done this.” she turned around, a air of command around her. “Okay, what you are about to do is totally top secret. Only a handful of people know about this.” ‘Not really true but it’s close enough.’ Shinji and Asuka turned around to look at her, curious. “What?” they asked in stereo. She sighed and pinned the comm badge on her chest. “Computer, prepare four helmets, one red, one blue, one yellow and one black.” She looked at them, serious. “You must not tell anyone about this.” They nodded. Mako looked up and said, “Shinji, you’ll pilot the wolf. Asuka the Gorilla, Rei the Bear and I’ll take the Frog.” Asuka snickered but suddenly, felt herself being pulled up by the tractor beam. She soon found herself dressed in her plug suit, a red helmet with a dinosaur, mostly a T-Rex, shape on it. Shinji had a blue helmet on his head, his hands already on the controls. Rei had her zord in motion and Mako, well, she was already moving towards the encounter area. Shinji moved the wolf with ease. “Wow, I feel like I’ve piloted this before,” he commented. Asuka’s voice came over the commlink. Mako’s voice came over the link. “You sound like you’ve piloted one of these before,” Asuka said, suspicion laced in her voice. You could see the Frog grow a huge sweatdrop. A crane buzzed the Ape. Shinji asked, A laugh. The eye beam lanced out towards the crane and it swerved to the side. Shinji said, Rei’s calm voice came over the link. Asuka asked. Everyone shrugged. *** “Where the hell do these things come from?!” Ritsuko was now in crazy mode, trying to find out what the mechas were. “The Children haven’t reported in yet! Where are they?” Maya looked up hopelessly. “I don’t know. It takes a while to return from the crash sites Ritsuko. Don’t worry, we’ll find them.” *** Shinji’s wolf zord flew through the air as the arm of the Angel ripped off. It howled in pain as the wolf zord landed without a flaw. Shinji grinned. “That was amazing! No feedback! I love this thing!” A laugh came over the commlink. Misato said, firing a round of energy into the Angel which sprayed off the AT Field. Asuka asked. said the voice from the Falcon. Asuka glared up at the missile toting Falcon. “Hey, where’ve you been? We had to battle this thing alone! And individual attacks aren’t getting though!” Makoto said from the Frog. “Right. Okay, everyone, on my mark, prepare to press the red button on the front panel. Or you could try and say the activation sequence in synchronization.” Came the immediate response. He grinned. “Thought you might say that. On my mark.” He opened a link to all the zords. “We need Ninja Megazord Power NOW!” Asuka’s Ape zord’s head folded into the torso with a sheen of liquid metal and the arms melted into the body, the legs fusing into a arm. A hand flowed out of where the head used to be. The Frog zord flowed upright with a hiss of hydraulics and large plates folded over the legs, making the appearance of boots and the arms folded under the head. Rei’s Bear zord’s body folded into the torso, the head grinding downward and outward, the gears being exposed within. “Guys, I’ll complete docking sequence later, I’m gonna take a few potshots at the Angel and distract it.” Asuka said. The Wolf zord’s body flowed into a long appendage, the mouth becoming the hand and the arms and legs folded into the body with a grinding of gears. The arm plates opened and took in the forearms and closed over them seamlessly. The Bear zord floated up and clanked atop the standing Frog zord. A ways away, the Falcon zord folded its wings and shot out a series of missiles that blew up against the still impenetrateable AT Field. The Bear zord opened a series of docking clamps on either side. The Ape zord raised up, the feet flipping around to expose the clamps. It latched on with a thunk as with the Wolf zord. The Crane flew above it, and folded backwards to expose a metallic face. It locked in, the clamps tightening around it. “Crane zord locked on. Checking out.” “NINJA MEGAZORD BATTLE MODE NOW!” The multicolored zord went into a battle stance. Shinji looked around, obviously grinning under his blue helmet. “This is great!” he exclaimed in joy. Asuka nodded from her position to the left of Misato. “I’ll bet this thing can kick some serious butt.” Makoto chuckled from above Asuka. “This? This is only the third most powerful one we have.” “Third?!” Misato exclaimed. “Where do you keep the other more powerful ones?!” “Never mind that,” Asuka said, “who are you really Fifth Child?” “Stop with the insults, Shaun’s docking.” Soon, the chair with the young black clad boy hissed in. “Hey everyone, get ready, the Angel is making a run for downtown Tokyo-3.” Shinji turned around, “Activating Ninja Megazord Battle Mode now!” Everyone shot their hands out and yelled, “POWER SWORD NOW!” You could see Rei blink in surprise under her yellow helmet. “Why do we do these things automatically?” “Quirks of life,” the Second Child replied automatically. The huge Zord rumbled forward and launched a series of rapid sword swipes with the shiny golden saber. The Angel lashed out with its eyebeam and the Zord rocked. The Angel, thinking for once, reached out and grasped a tall pillar and gasped it like a quarterstaff. Shaun groaned. “Great, it decides to imitate Ivan Ooze.” It swung the pillar downward and the strike was parried by the sword. It swung again and again, locking the Megazord in defensive mode. “Micropressure’s in the red, we’re imploding!” Shinji yelled from the helm. “No response from the controls!” Asuka added. “Switch to auxiliaries. I want enough power to last the fight!” Shaun ordered, tapping a few controls. A light lit up on his terminal. Rei looked at him. “What are you doing Garin-san?” she asked. “Calling for help.” He thrust his hand up in the air, towards the north. “Calling the Carrier Zord Titanis and Shogan interface!” To the side, the huge white dinosaurlike Carrier Zord rummbled into view, a suit of armor perched atop it. Rei went into automatic. “Starting interface sequence.” she intoned. The zord leapt up into the air as the helmet of the Shogun zord clamped onto the head. The chestplate attached on it as with boots and arm armor and a wickedly curved sword. Makoto reported, “Power is back up to full. Ready for the interlock sequence with Titanis.” The hovering zord landed in the carrier zords back and locked together. *** “First the Eva’s fall, then these animal mechas come out of nowhere, and then they fuse together, and now, it got a upgrade AND MORE FIREPOWER!!!” Ritsuko breathed heavily. Then suddenly, “I gotta meet the designer of these things.” Everyone, including Gendo, facefaulted. *** “Power to full, waiting for attack!” Misato said from the front. “Good. Ready? On three. Wait for it....THREE!” Bright beams of concentrated energy blazed from the zords, bathing the Angel in a concentration of light. The AT Field flickered and suddenly shattered. The Angel flew back as it was sliced in half, not totally to the bottom. Everyone cheered in both places. Just then, Rei reported quietly, “The Angel is still alive.” “Damn. Then we’ll finish it off personally. Remove the armor and prepare for Z3 Mode Spinout.” Makoto looked at her commander. “Z3 Spinout? That’s not suited for the Ninjazord. The Megapunch is better for the task.” “I’m not taking any chances Mako-chan. We’ll beat this thing. ‘Sides, the Z3 Spinout is the fastest attack and that things regenerating.” Asuka looked towards the green Angel. “Damn you’re right.” The armor detached and the Zord leapt out, the sword at the ready. Backing up a few miles, the red core came into view as it rolled into the front. It started to pull together. *** “What’s it doing?” Gendo adjusted his glasses. “I do not know.” *** “Hope you guys don’t get motion sickness cause this is gonna get fast.” The Zord produced the sword and hovered over the ground. It started to pick up speed as it blazed across the landscape. “Z3 SPINOUT!!!!” The zord started to spin around in a cutting whirl as it blazed towards the Angel. It passed the monster, stopping in a kneeling stance. The Angel flickered and suddenly exploded with a halo of power, the smoke rising in a mushroom cloud without any fallout. “Whoooooooo!” Asuka yanked off her helmet and laughed. “Whatta fight!” Shinji removed his helmet as with the rest of the other pilots. “I love the powerups!” Misato leaned back in her chair. “I’ll bet that Ritsuko will want to meet the designer.” Makoto laughed. “Hope she can get to Eltar sooner or later to meet Zordon.” “Who?” “Um...nevermind.” Misato shrugged. Suddenly she turned around and glared at Shaun. “You said we can’t reveal this. I think it’s a little late for that,” she said, indicating the NERV copters heading their way. He shrugged. “Well then, we’ll just have to take a little detour back to the Base. Shinji? Set a course for outer space. Circle the globe once before heading towards the moon and back into Japan on the flight path I give you.” Shinji paused for a second and then turned around, and pressed in the flight buttons. The zord lowered its arms and soared into the sky, rapidly disappearing from NERV’s sensors. *** “It’s last known trajectory was up into space. It was heading towards the Orion star cluster.” Gendo looked troubled. “It looks like aliens probably had taken pity on the people of earth.” ‘Damn aliens. But at least they destroyed the Angels.’ He then turned to the blonde scientist. “Has the Eva’s been retrieved yet?” “They are on their way back to the Geo-Front. And the pilots, including the Fourth Child who found them and sent the message on the phone from Misato’s place.” “Good. Leave a message on the phone. They’ve earned a break. Thank god for the aliens.” *** Asuka tapped her foot impatiently as they moved down the elevator. It was slightly crowded in the elevator and she felt uncomfortable in the skin tight plug suit. Just then, the elevator opened and a group of spandex wearing teens walked in the elevator as they got off. Asuka raised an eyebrow. “Well now I feel a lot better wearing this plug suit.” Soon, the Eva pilots gathered in the conference room, all expecting an answer. “So, Shaun, what is this place? And why haven’t we heard about it before?” Misato asked. “I guess I will have to tell you. I know some aspects of the future of different time eras. This one just happens to be one of my favorites. I knew about the Angel in Unit-03 for starters.” Misato looked shocked. “And you never told us? Why?” “Because being the main person with the most knowledge of this era save for Pu, I had to minimize interaction with the main events occurring in the outside world. You may know about the disappearance of many powerful people around the world, right?” At the nods of their heads, he continued. “Many of them have come here to work in the Bases around the globe. It was part of a bunker that housed many people I tried to save. Many didn’t come though.” he said in a barely audible voice. “So, you knew about some things, didn’t you?” Asuka asked, her expression one of sadness. “Yes. And for some reason, I became the Fourth Child and Mako-chan, the Fifth Child. In the original timeline, Toji became the Fourth Child and got one of his arms and legs blown off because of it. There was a fifth child but now he’ll be the sixth child.” “Who’s the fifth child?” Shinji asked. “Asuka? Do you remember the mind raping Angel?” Her expression told all. “Then I must tell you, but erase all memories of this conversation. Mako-chan and I will still serve as the Fourth and Fifth but only we will know about Kawrou.” “Kawrou?” Rei asked quietly. “The infamous Fifth, or now, Sixth Child. He...and I hate to say it, is the Seventeenth Angel.” Gasps echoed around the table. Misato pounded the table in anger. “And you can’t let us remember?!” she yelled. “Please! Perhaps if Washu-chan can put blocks on your minds until the time is right. Till then, you’ll remember everything, including the zord fight. You can’t tell anyone about this place or the zords. You will remember the zord piloting but in a altered way.
